What's this all about?
ABC/Disney plans to memorialize the fifth anniversary of 9/11 with a fictional docudrama called "The Path to 9/11". Written by an avowed right-wing activist, this work of fiction directly contradicts the accepted record of the 9/11 Commission Report. President Clinton and former administration officials were denied an advance copy; Rush Limbaugh and obscure right-wing bloggers saw it last week. ABC plans to distribute this docudrama to 100,000 educators across the country. We've set up this site to encourage ABC to change its strategy. READ MORE.

Morning Updates

The Families of 9/11 came out with a statement:
As we mark five years since 9/11, we are inundated with the media's portrayal of that tragic day. Television miniseries, Hollywood films, comic books and countless "documentaries" are dramatizing and sometimes distorting the events leading up to and happening on 9/11.

Families of September 11 believes the best way to honor those who were lost is to make sure that what happened to them never happens again. As such, we must understand exactly what took place, and not allow "entertainers" to promote misleading or incorrect information as fact to the public.

If we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. Any depiction of 9/11 that is not accurate and factual propagates myths, myths that may cause us future harm.
Bill Clinton is furious.

Congresswoman Slaughter and Congressman Pascrell are calling a press conference today titled 'Slaughter and Pascrell to Call on Scholastic and ABC to Keep 9-11 Docudrama Out of Schools'.

ABC affiliates are on the run, and now the movie is apparently in its final stage of edits. Interesting how they sent out advance copies at least a week ago, and now the movie is suddenly still in production.

When do the lawsuits start?

Boy, THAT would deep six this project -- nothing like the threat of loss of millions of dollars in punitive damages to curtail "artistic integrity"!

Contact your local ABC affiliate and tell them you will no longer watch ABC programming of ANY sort, nor will you purchase from any ABC advertiser. Then, contact your local NBC and CBS affiliate and introduce yourself to them as a new viewer and tell them why. Copy ABC in your email.

FAX to these major ABC contributors: AT&T, Cingular, Ford, Toyota, Procter & Gamble, Unilever Suave, Universal Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures.

Well, I'm proud to say that Congressman Pascrell represents my district in northern NJ. I just called his DC office and the word is that the press conference is supposed to occur around 4:15 EST.

All ABC affiliates are now talking from the same talking points. They are staking their survival on this one piece of propaganda. It's clear now that they are all one and the same. Time to abandon ship...all things Disney/ABC stinks to high heaven. Do we really need ANOTHER Fox?

Wikipedia has a list of all ABC broadcast affiliates, with several layers of links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ABC _television_affiliates

Should we try to mobilize an effort to put pressure on them to not carry the program...or is that already underway?

Should part of the push be to demand that ABC broadcast the (real) documentary called "9/11: Press For Truth?" My understanding is that this film portrays the real failures and stonewalling of the Bush Admin related to 9/11, both before and after. Its 84 minutes long. That would to fit nicely in a 90-minute slot, even with a few minutes of revenue generating ads (As I recall, they're not running ads in their fantasy-version docudrama). That would achieve they're supposed goal of educating the public. And it would allow them to make a few bucks by telling the truth rather than spewing dramatized and dishonest BS across the airwaves.

Reiterating the call over at the Daily Kos...we need to focus on this unrelentingly. As "Pontificator" says, "[W]hy does Disney feel it can stand its ground, while it so easily caves every time James Dobson looks at it funny? The reason: Dobson is organized. When he makes a threat, he backs it up with action repeated over the long term. We, however, are far to quick to forget and start chasing a new rabbit every time a new outrage arises. This lack of follow-through ends now. I want every Kossack to:
1. Write on a piece of paper the following words -- "Don't forget I must make time to punish Disney and ABC today."
2. I then want every Kossack to get a piece of tape and tape that paper to the wall right beside their beds, so it is the first thing seen upon waking up.
3. And I want every Kossack to keep that paper on their wall for an entire year.
4. Each and every day from here on out you are all drafted to punish Disney and ABC, whether it's by calling their switchboard, not watching ABC, not attending a Disney movie, or not going to Disneyworld."

From TPM Cafe:

"MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell is now saying that Clinton lawyer Bruce Lindsey told her that the Clinton camp will only be satisfied with a complete yanking of the series."

Time for maximum and relentless pressure on all fronts.

In response to the recent criticism ABC is now apparently claiming that this is a dramatization meant to be entertainment.

HOW DARE THEY! I am furious that ABC would make an "entertainment" out of one of the horrible events in our nation's history. There is nothing "entertaining" about 9/11. Why would ABC do this? Simply for ratings and hence, money? This is completely sickening, to try to profit from the suffering, trauma, and murder of thousands of Americans.

But I suspect that there is an even more reprehensible motive. The Path to 9/11 was being pitched as educational, with educational materials being made available to schools — educational materials that are filled with "fabrications", which are "false and defamatory", and are full of "errors and mischaracterizations". Hugh Hewitt of townhall.com claims that ABC has told him that minor changes have been made but "- The average viewer would not be able to tell the difference between the two versions. - The message of the Clinton Admin failures remains fully intact."

I can only concluded that this piece of fiction has been produced as propaganda to smear Bill Clinton and blame his party on the eve of an important election. This kind of blatant political manipulation of the facts surrounding the tragedy of 9/11 is on a par with the tactics used by the Nazi Party and their propaganda wing in the 1930s.

Although ABC has many fine programs, I am now blocking it on our televisions. Peter Jennings must be turning in his grave.

On display for your amusement, observe the political left's use of economic extortion tactics to get their warped version of reality generally accepted as the truth.

Bill Clinton failed to deal with Al Qaeda. Your forming your diaphragms in a circle in a feeble effort to protect him will not work.

Being an apologist and excuse maker for a failed President like Clinton is a sad and pathetic way of life.

If they cancel airing of the film, they will spin it as "Democrats suppressing the truth again!", they will sell VHS and DVD copies online for a buck, and they will capitalize on the "craving for banned material" effect. They will use it to whip their base into a voting frenzy, underdog victims that they are...

Still, they will lose.

Who is paying? The question must be answered. Clearly millions have been spent on production and millions more are being spent on uninterrupted air time. This is a campaign contribution. Name the contributors.

Is there a potential campaign-law violation angle to this? To this non-expert, it seems that an argument could be made that this is an in-kind Republican campaign contribution from Disney/ABC, coming just 2 months before the election and especially since it's not supported by advertising and obviously cost big bucks to make. Are there any election law experts working this issue?

Don't forget to send all your friends and relatives to this web site and others covering this issue. We should give Disney no wiggle-room to PR their way out of this.

"Fahrenheit 911"...CBS memogate...Valerie Plame affair...

Do you think any election law experts worked those issues?

Bill Clinton failed to deal with Al Qaeda. Richard Clarke failed to deal with Al Qaeda. This entire blog is an attempt at using economic extortion to force others to accept a warped and twisted view of reality. This entire blog is about pandering, apologizing and making excuses for Bill Clinton. You can put lip stick and high heels on a pig. In the end, it is still a pig.

I am happy to see that you admit that the left uses economic extortion to force others to accept their slant on history as fact.

Answer this...why do you believe Richard Clarke, Sandy Berger, Madeline Albright and Bill Clinton? What is it in their track record that makes them believable? How do you know what the truth is?

I will admit that I do not know for certain the truth regarding the issues in this movie. You need to admit tat you do not know either.

What I do know is that I do not believe Clarke, Berger, Albright or Clinton. I do not believe GW Bush either, but he is not complaining about this film.

And I am not suprised you won't admit that Neocons are the masters of it. You forced the Reagans off, yes? F-9/11 was force dropped, yes? And all over YOUR bitching. And now you want to stand on some moral high ground and toss off about how we're censoring this piece of garbage? Puhleease.

Answer this...why do you believe Richard Clarke, Sandy Berger, Madeline Albright and Bill Clinton? What is it in their track record that makes them believable? How do you know what the truth is?

Umm...lesse...9/11 commission report? What makes you think that ABC's,or should we say Nowratesh and Keane's version of history is right? Because it helps Bushco? Damn the findings of the commission,eh? Kind of funny isn't it,you don't even have the commission to rely on,eh?

I will admit that I do not know for certain the truth regarding the issues in this movie. You need to admit tat you do not know either.

never said I did chap. I do know what the 9/11 commission report says though, and that the commission knows one heck of a lot more than you or I do. If you don't know that this smear is truthful, why not read the report that the movie is billed as being based on? Why not find out?

And if you already know what the report says, why are you obfuscating with the truth and supporting an obvious propaganda piece?

Excuse me if I believe the commission before I belive you.

What I do know is that I do not believe Clarke, Berger, Albright or Clinton. I do not believe GW Bush either, but he is not complaining about this film.

I'm not expecting you to believe "Clarke, Berger, Albright or Clinton". I do however, expect people to believe the commission report,on which this 'film'(used in place of trash) is supposedly based.

As far as Bush, why should he complain? It's attempting to absolve him of his screwups and place the blame on someone else. It's a core Bush administration tactic.

Iraq going bad? Blame the "liberal media". Got soldiers breaking Geneva conventions on executive orders? Blame the "liberal media". 9/11? Blame Clinton. Katrina? Blame everybody else.

That is the way Bush operates. Adn everyone sees it. Hence, the bottom dragging poll numbers and the lack of a surge in his numbers when he 'exposes' another supposed terror cell.

So no,I don't find any of it credible. I believe the report, adn the report says this is crap.
