The Path to 9/11, to be aired over the weekend of September 10 and 11 on ABC, is a historically inaccurate portrayal of a national tragedy.
Here is why we protest the airing of this film on so sensitive a topic.
1) This film contains outright fabrications that are not in the 9/11 Commission report.
2) None of the Democratic commissioners on the bipartisan 9/11 Commission have certified this film.
3) No left-wing bloggers were given an advance screening, though many right-wing bloggers and pundits have seen copies of the film. Right-wing ideologues have loudly pronounced their satisfaction with the film. The failure to allow left-wingers to critique this film prior to its screening means that the political slant will be clear.
4) ABC removed its blog discussing controversies with the film. When the blog was functional, the blog writers were stating outright lies to justify not showing the film to liberals. Update: The blog has returned, lies intact.
We are asking ABC and its parent company Disney for four things to remedy this shameful right-wing propaganda.
1) ABC needs to remove the outright fabrications in the film.
2) ABC should explicitly call this a work of fiction, and say that this does not represent the findings of the 9/11 Commission.
3) ABC should publicly list the marketing operators responsible for hiding this film from left-wing opinion leaders.
4) ABC should refuse to send out this film as an educational aid for students in understanding recent American history.

Was this ABC/Disney vehicle for unemployed actors really such a secret that you folks with all of your resources actually didn't know anything about it?

How about a flick about neocon foreign policy architects, Wolfowitz or Perle...or even Mr. Giuliani when he split his command & control on September 11th...or how about a movie about when Iraq became a U.S. client state for the Carter administration in 1979 (and continued to be one through the Reagan & Bush years until 1990)...or how the backroom boys decided that the U.S. would be better off running its own oil-rich client state instead of continuing to allow Saddam al-Tikriti Hussein to do it? Have you got the guts to do this...and the unemployed actors? It sounds like great election-eve entertainment to me!
Only 50% of the U.S. electorate (those of eligible voting age) bothers to vote. The U.S. electorate totals about 75% of the U.S. population, i.e., 225 million of 300 million Americans.
Unfortunate but true: In the eyes of the roughly 25% of the right end of the U.S. electorate who have been electing presidents and congressional majorities in the last few years...truth doesn't matter so much as entertainment and fear.
So, you had better stop trying to confuse the 25% of the right end with facts, denials & rebuttals (by so called principals).
You're wasting your breath.
Just ask Ann Richards, John McCain and John Kerry.
Messrs: Clarke, Berger, Ben-Veniste and especially Ms. Albright aren't children and ought to know better how to handle these Rove-like tactics by now. They aren't shrinking violets when they don't want to be...especially when those of these four are out selling books of personal redemption.
A better use of your time: Registering the other 25% of the left end of the U.S. electorate who don't vote, and persuading them that truth does matter more than fantasy. If you spent your time and resources doing that, 75% of the U.S. electorate would be voting this November, 2/3 of them for those who do not only practice entertainment and spread fear.
Go for it!
The Pathway to 911 - It makes me sad that the channel kept saying it was controversial. It is controversial because it is the closest to the truth. What I keep wondering is why the Bush, his administration and family and connections have not been investigated yet. Since I feel that the pathway to 911 started the day he took office. The politicians wanted a war. He gave it to them. I feel to this day that Bush and his administration had a big part in the events that took place on 911. It makes me very sad that all these people were sacrificed so that this country could have a war. I love this country but since 911, I have seen our rights, what this country stands for destroyed slowly and no one seems to care or do anything to stop it. This event didn't happen without Americans, other countries aside from arabs, muslims involved. One day when the truth comes out it will be very sad how this nation was trick and had to witness this horrific events that hurt all us and destroyed so many lives.
